About the event
Join Jack Nunn and I for a blissful evening of restorative yoga focused on the soothing sounds of live cello music and chanting in the warm sanctuary of A Place to Be.Â
The cello has a particularly special place in many people's hearts and its low register and mellow tones is key to its relaxing effect.  The deep resonance of the cello creates wave patterns that are equivalent to brain pattern alpha waves (8 to 12Hz), these are common when we are meditating or practicing mindfulness and when we enter this deeply relaxed state we activate the calm side of the nervous system and  listen with our whole bodies.Â
Jack Nunn is an accomplished musician and has been composing music for cello and piano for twenty years. Â He has worked and recorded with a number of artists, including the Grammy award winning Basement Jaxx.
Jack will play cello live over recorded tracks which are a blend of calming, meditative piano – interwoven with cello, violin and sitar – creating rich and immersive soundscapes.
As Jack immerses you in these soothing landscapes I will guide you through a restorative yoga practice and guide you through simple chants. Scientific studies have found that chanting can decrease stress, anxiety and depressive symptoms, as well as increase positive mood, feelings of relaxation and focused attention  Â
Restorartive Yoga is  a progressive relaxation using gentle somatic movements  that allows you to release physical tension and is incredibly soothing and nurturing for your nervous system.  Imagine going to a cello concert where you are laying in the comfort of supportive bolsters, props, blankets, lit by candlelight and guided into a deep state of relaxation designed to to help soothe and calm your nervous system and bring you into a deep place of ease and peace. Then sit and be guided thruugh simple chants that  have a direct effect on the parasympathetic nervous systema  as it can slow breathing and activate the vagus nerve.
Afterwards, if you'd like to stay, Â we will gather for delicious baking from Ede and a cup of tea before we all drift off home in bliss!
A wonderful experience for you, you and a friend or loved one.Â
